Email addresses are the bread and butter of most modern communications, but frequently address databases include badly formatted addresses, old addresses that users no longer respond to and increasingly regulation is meaning that emails cannot be used for marketing purposes without an explicit opt-in.
At Spotless, we have three levels of email validation
- Review the structure - checking that an email is well formed and doesn’t have any obvious mistakes in it (for example commas instead of full stops). This is primarily designed for manually produced email marketing lists and provides initial checking and can also remove duplicates
- Domain check - this checks that the domain name exists and is able to receive email and can fix misspellings on domain names.
- Subscription verification - this sends out a customised email directly to each email address asking them to either opt-in or opt-out. Email addresses can be removed from the list if they are not opened, not opted-in, or if they opted out.
