We have a lot of clients in the TV industry and one problem we’ve come across again and again is inconsistent naming of TV shows. Whether it’s the same show being broadcast on multiple channels or comparing live TV schedules against VOD and OTT video services, everyone seems to have a different way of spelling TV show names.
In order to help fix this problem, we’ve developed a reference rule with a list of around 17,000 TV shows that can be used to standardise naming conventions and ensure that there is only one for any show on your TV platform.
Using this, we’ll match shows like “Game Of Thrones S1” from your VOD platform with “Game of Thrones” on your live TV platform. We’ll match “Coronation St.” with “Coronation Street” and “Marahajah Lawak” with “Maharajah Lawak” - each of which we’ve seen in real life customer data!
You can see the TV show matching rule and try it here.
